About Us

What is
Sisters Horsing Around

Sisters Horsing Around was founded in 2018 and includes our YouTube channel, website and social media accounts.

At the time, we originally started as just a youtube channel. We wanted to bring black equestrian representation to the forefront by sharing our journey and our goal was to introduce the excitement of horses to those outside the horse world. We chose youtube as our avenue to do this because it was a way to reach people on a larger scale. As the years went by we have expanded and rebranded Sisters Horsing Around to be what it is today.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reach as many as we can, for as long as we can, wherever they are and to help them experience the wonders of this vast equestrian world.

What We Do

And The Why Behind It

Being first-generation horsewomen and equestrians, we had no family background or family experience with horses. We made every beginner mistake out there in the books. We recognized that there was a gap that existed between those in the horse world and those outside of it. And that is where we come in! Since we have been there and done that, we wanted to help others have better success. Our goal was to be for others what we did not have when we started our horse journey- which was a person who showed us the ins and outs of the horse world and guide them in the right direction. So, we set out to bridge that gap by creating content that could be enjoyed and easily understood by non-equestrians and equestrians alike.

As multi-discipline riders, we have had a variety of experiences. Not only do we ride, but we also train and have judged shows as well. Having had so many experiences and been in so many “cultures” within the equestrian world as a whole, we realized just how easy it can be for some to get caught in stereotypical way of thinking. We’ve heard English riders call Western people “rednecks.” We’ve heard Western people call English riders “sissies,” Eventers call Hunters “snobs,” Hunters call Eventers “slobs,” and Saddleseat riders called “abusive.” We’ve even heard riders who train with trainers look down on riders without trainers and view them as “backyard riders. Having heard so many negative comments said about the different groups, we wanted to do something to change that. One thing we have noticed across the whole spectrum of disciplines is that everyone shares the same common thing- a love and a passion for horses.

Because of that, our goal for equestrians is to help broaden their perspectives and interests in different disciplines. We want others to see that there are people among each group who genuinely care for and love their horses.

We have been OBSESSED with horses all our lives, and we have been blessed to have the equestrian world as our life. We believe that horses can enrich lives in so many ways and the life lessons gained from having and/or working with them are invaluable. That is what we want to share with others. That is what we want them to have the opportunity to experience through Sisters Horsing Around.

Meet The Sisters

Even though we are sisters, our horse stories are different, actually very different. We have different things we like, different preferences, and differing ways of viewing things. But all in all, we find a way to balance it all.

Emily

Hi There! I'm Emily, the older sister of Sisters Horsing Around. To make it easy to recognize me, I have curly hair and LOVE purple! And if you hadn't guessed it already, I am also characterized by the purple half of our logo. Horses aren't just a hobby for me, it's a lifestyle and one that has me hooked completely. As an equestrian, one tends to wear many hats. The hats I wear are the open horse show judge, multi-discipline rider, horse trainer, personal farrier, and barn manager hats. Simply put, I am a Jill-of-all-trades.

Sarah

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am the younger sister of Sisters Horsing Around! You will come to recognize me - 1, because of my favorite color blue and 2, by my straight hair. I ride Dressage and Eventing but will occasionally dabble in the hunter and western rings. As you watch our videos you will probably notice that I am a bit of a firecracker, with a thirst for adventure, a challenge and that sweet feeling of adrenaline! As co-founder, entrepreneur, social media coordinator, and video creator, I am always trying to find ways to add that element of creative fun and epicness to our videos!

Our Logo

2 Sisters • 2 Hearts • 1 Love

New logo, same colors! You may know and recognize us by our old logo. It was simple yet easily recognizable. As 2023 marked the 5th year anniversary for Sisters Horsing Around, we thought that it was time for an upgrade. In keeping with the original components of the design with two horse heads shaped like a heart, we decided to redesign it to include us. Our logo symbolizes who we are as sisters. We are very different, as different as they come, but we share the same love – horses.
